Ivy wanted 6 corsages for her wedding. I’ve modified from the ‘classic’ corsages that I used to make… Yup, I’ve modified the wristband, instead of using ribbon, I’m using pearls…

Wedding Couple for Joyce

Joyce chanced upon my blog when she’s sourcing for a wedding gift for her friend… She wanted smaller version of wedding dolls. Since I’ve been making a few pairs lately, I accepted and did this pair for her. She wanted the bride in lace gown and wearing a tiara… As for the groom, she’ll like him to have specs and hold a heart-shaped pillow…

“Very cute!” She exclaimed when she saw the dolls… I’m glad I didn’t disappoint her…

Wedding Couple for Fong

My cousin, Fong is getting married tomorrow… Since beginning of the year, his dear mom has asked me to make a pair of wedding dolls for them… I have to apologize,for being ‘always-last-minute’, I don’t have time to make a bigger pair…=P

My cousin saw the dolls and commented that they are really sweet and pretty… Most importantly, it’s the ONE and the ONLY ONE…LOL!!!

The dolls are measured approx. 4” tall…

Wedding Corsages for Yenglin

I love these corsages very much, they are really beautiful and unique… This new version of corsage, I’ve changed the leave design to another type which look more like the leaves on roses.

Instead of stringing everything with pearls, I actually attached a crocheted flower with crystal in between so that it doesn’t look boring… ;)

As I’ve mentioned in my previous blog, I prefer this design, cos it’s easier to wear and look more stylish… Besides that, the ‘centre piece’ doesn’t drop below the wrist that often as compare to ribbon type.

Wedding Couple for Hazel’s friends, D & L

Hazel requested smaller version of wedding couple for her friends, D & L as their ROM’s gift…. :) Everything is crocheted… Simple, but sweet… :)

The height of both dolls are approx. 4” tall…

Besides that, her friend also requested for a corsage… I’ve changed the design of the corsage a bit. Instead of using ribbon, I’ve used pearls… Well, seems like this design is very ‘IN’ now cos I have a few buyers requesting for that type of corsage…

Personally, I prefer this design than ribbon, because it’s easier to wear and also look more classy…. ;)

Wedding Couple for Shawn

I was so touched by Shawn… Such a sweet guy! He was using this wedding couple as a proposal to his girlfriend, now fiancé! ;) So sweet and romantic!!

He told me that his fiance loves fairy tales and would be happy to see crown and flowers… Addition to that, he requested ears for both of the dolls! Honestly, after adding the ears, the dolls really look alive! Don’t you think so?

Am thinking to add ears to all the dolls I’ve made in future… ;)

Wedding Couple for Mindy and TH

This pair of wedding dolls will be used for Mindy’s solemnization. Mindy has a small sexy mole on her left cheek… So, the bride’s doll has one too… When I saw Mindy, this doll really looks like her… ;)

During the collection, she told me she likes the dolls very much and they are bigger than what she’s expecting.…After she left, she send me another message and again telling me:

“Hey Jullie, I love the dolls. Thanks a lot and I’m sure my fiancé will love them too”

Wedding Couple for Xuan’s friends

When Indian meets Japanese…. Unique match!

Xuan is Fang’s sister. Her friend, an Indian is getting married with his Japanese fiancé. She wanted to give them a pair of wedding couple. Xuan is very kind… I have two choices: A and B:

Choice A: Make my usual wedding dolls.

Choice B: More interesting, personalized the bride’s doll is in kimino.

I’ve decided to choose B since I was quite free last month and I wanted to do something different to add to my portfolios.

Let’s talk about the groom first… I think this is the darkest human doll I’ve made so far… Xuan showed me his photo, well, he has curls and sideburns. Hmm, most Indians have these… So, I’ve added a curl on the fringe and sideburns at the side. I hope at one look, can tell it’s an Indian….

For the bride, the challenge was on sewing the costume!

1st of all, I’m not familiar with kimono… Searched through wiki for kimono. Hmm, I’ve learnt something new: The sash that ties around waist is called OBI and at the back of kimono is not really a ‘pillow’, which I always thought it was, it’s actually knots.

2ndly, it’s NOT EASY to sew the costume at all!!! I’m not a seamstress and I never learn ‘proper’ sewing before, not to mention cutting the pattern. Thank God, I have friends who gave me thinkers. I’ve MADE IT and LOVE the result! Erhem, the kimono was hand-sewn… =P

I hope her friends will like them.

Thanks to Xuan for giving me this opportunity to try something new. Looking forward to make something special for her wedding too… :)

Gift for little Rachel

My niece, Rachel, celebrated her 5th birthday last month… She has been wanting a handmade doll with a crown from me. Since she’s taking ballet, I’ve made a little ballerina for her… :)

About a Photographer, Chris Lee

I’ve known him for the past 8 years. I met Chris while attending a course… Then later, his company engaged me as their consultant to implement system in their company and have been working with him and his team closely for the past 8 years. Erhem… I used to be an Engineering Software consultant…=P

During then, I knew Chris’s loves to take pictures. He and his colleagues even formed a photography team and this team is still very active, even some of them already left the company. Whenever I visited his company, he would show me the photos he took. I realized he is very talented in this area! Then, during my wedding, I invited him to become my photographer… :) Just for fun, no pressure… He agreed instantly… He never failed us! Both my hubby and I were very impressed by his work!! Very natural and touching! And from then, I know, Chris would excel in this field….

Apart from being a skillful photographer, I like Chris personality. When he knew that I had intention to blog about him, he was very excited and kept reminding me to do so every other day. Can see that he is very serious about this new venture of his!

Granny’s 80th Birthday Bash

Last Friday, we went to Kuching, Sarawak to celebrate my granny’s birthday. It’s a 3 days and 2 nights trip and we stayed in an apartment @ Merdeka Palace.

This is the first time after many many many years where all my relatives from my maternal side gather together. It’s very difficult to have all of them back, cos my grandmother has 9 CHILDREN, especially two of my aunts who one of them are staying in US and the other in Australia.

We’ve already booked out tickets 3 months ago, once the date & location were confirmed. I’m glad it was held in Kuching, cos it’s we can take a direct flight from Singapore.

We took Tiger Air. The flight was not so full, hence Joel had his own seat… :) This little boy was very excited to see plane… Coming to 18th month, Joel starts to understand and being curious about everything around him, so, this trip was more meaningful to him. He kept pointing the plane and swung his hands as if he’s flying.

 

We were staying @ Merdeka Palace in Kuching. My uncle booked an apartment with 3 bedrooms for us. It’s so spacious!

My dad drove from Sibu to Kuching on the same day we arrived. Being in Kuching several time, my dad became our ‘tour-guide’ for a morning… LOL!!! This is my first time after 20 years to re-visit Kuching. and I really had no idea how the city looks like. There’s a lot of development going on. Hence, the town was a bit ‘messy’… Hehehehe… I believe another 3 years, it will look very different!

Saturday was the dinner. Joel never attend any 9 course dinner before. Initially, my DH and I were worried whether he’ll be frightened or cranky… So, we forced him to take a nap at 5 plus and then we got ready our weapons; biscuits, waters, cakes and etc…. to distract him during the dinner.

Surprisingly this little monster was very well-behaved! He was in 110% good mood… Smiling and waving at everyone! All my relatives were praising him being friendly… I’m very proud of him!

The dinner started with Longevity noodle, supposed to be mee-sua, but the hotel doesn’t have mee sua. Instead of using mee sua, they replaced it with KOLO-MEE!!! Weird, but YUMMY!!!!

After three dishes, my 3rd uncle came to stage to give a speech about my grandmother… It was so touching and almost everyone was in tear… Truly, my grandmother is a great woman who gave birth to 9 children and brought up single-handedly. During then, my grandfather was very busy working to provide for the family. Household was all taken care by my grandmother. It’s not easy at all, after being a mom myself.

Photo session was a challenge… It’s quite chaotic… LOL!!

Then later, all the grandchildren, from youngest to oldest (that’s me), lined up to take red-packet from my grandmother. Joel was her first great grand son! This little boy, walked toward her on his own to receive the red packet and followed by a hug…

What a memorable night… :) I really miss all of them and I’m looking forward to another gathering like this in future. It’s so good to catch up with my aunts, uncles and cousins…

Then on Sunday, we took Tiger Air back to Singapore. I’m sure Joel miss his young uncles and aunties greatly!! He had so much fun with them. The youngest was Uncle Bryan, he’s 5 this year! Then there’s Aunt Megan, she’s 7 and Uncle Jared, he’s 10, I think… And lastly, my youngest brother, whom Joel loves to disturb.

Wedding Couple for Ander & Kelly

Ander and Kelly will be bringing this lovely pair of wedding couple for their wedding shot tomorrow.

Kelly will be holding her wedding in a church and wanted a ‘nature’ theme for her wedding. So, I used flowers and crystals for this pair… Hair bands seem to be a trend now… Hence, I put hair band and flowers. It’s really lovely…

  Anders collected the dolls just now and Kelly hasn’t seen it.. I hope she’ll like it… Wish both of them have an enjoyable shooting tomorrow…
