Happy Blessed New Year 2013

Year 2012 was a crazy but fruitful year for me. As most of you know, I was holding a quite demanding full-time job. Juggling among full time work, family and crafting business wasn’t easy for me, especially when having 3 years old boy and another one on the way. Yes, my dear Abba Father has given us another bundle of joy  Jerell Tan. He was born on 27th of Nov 2012. When I looked back, I still wasn’t sure how I did it and I know for sure, all by God’s grace!

Year 2013, I’m back to being a SAHM. Well, I call myself mum-preneur.. Sounds better right? I’ll be managing 2 small business from home.

I will also like to thank my friends and all the lovely couples who have been supporting me throughout year 2012. I really thank you for being so understanding. Due to work and family commitments, I wasn’t able to take in some orders and had rejected quite a numbers. Really sorry to disappoint some of you…

Nevertheless, I’m glad I was given opportunities to complete some of these lovely dolls. My greatest achievement and satisfaction in this small cottage business is when I received good feedbacks from the lovely couples. In fact, this is the push factor for me to continue doing…

Oh yea, I think some of you may wonder who is Elaine. Well, she is my best friend and also partner. I’ll introduce her to all of you in my later post. So, stay tuned!

In year 2013, I hope to be more active and do this business differently. I’ll focus more on weddings and share some useful DIY stuffs on my site. Besides that, I’ll collaborate with some of my entrepreneur friends that provide good services.

Lastly, I’ll be shifting my blog site soon. I’ll keep you updated once it’s completed.

“Handmade – A – Fair”

Last year, Knotty Bicsie’s Handmade-a-fair was showcasing a group of talented crafters on their handmade. Jullie’s handmade had show-cased a pair of wedding dolls & corsages during the event…

Handmade-A-Fair is back! But this year, it’s organized differently. Instead of showcasing crafter’s works, it will be showcasing talented instructors! And again, Jullie’s Handmade will be participating!

Angelically Yours is the theme of our workshop! Jullie and her friend will be conducting workshop on making Swarovsky Crystal Angels.

Angels are always associated to protection and love. I’ve made more than 100 over Swarovski Angels  during my wedding to be given to my loved ones… Though it’s small but very meaningful!

If you are thinking of gifts idea for this coming Christmas, Swarovsky Angel will be an ideal Christmas gift to that special someone. It will be more special if you made it on your own!

About a Photographer, Chris Lee

I’ve known him for the past 8 years. I met Chris while attending a course… Then later, his company engaged me as their consultant to implement system in their company and have been working with him and his team closely for the past 8 years. Erhem… I used to be an Engineering Software consultant…=P

During then, I knew Chris’s loves to take pictures. He and his colleagues even formed a photography team and this team is still very active, even some of them already left the company. Whenever I visited his company, he would show me the photos he took. I realized he is very talented in this area! Then, during my wedding, I invited him to become my photographer… :) Just for fun, no pressure… He agreed instantly… He never failed us! Both my hubby and I were very impressed by his work!! Very natural and touching! And from then, I know, Chris would excel in this field….

For the past years, he had been moonlightings and kept building his port-folios… I never get tired of looking at his shots! They are all very beautifully and interestingly taken!

Today, he has decided to step out from circular world by leaving his engineering career behind and pursue his interest and dream as a professional photographer full-time! It’s competitive and may not be wise, but I believe he can!

Apart from being a skillful photographer, I like Chris personality. He is humble and easy going… Even though he received numerous recognitions and some of his photos were selected for magazines and exhibitions such as ASIAN GEOGRAPHIC, he is never proud. When he knew that I had intention to blog about him, he was very excited and kept reminding me to do so every other day. Can see that he is very serious about this new venture of his!

It’s not easy to find someone whom can be trusted, especially having him to capture all the precious moments that only happened once in your life time, but Chris is the person you can. :)

From Han and Seng….

I’m glad that Han’s and Seng’s wedding dolls brought them joy and happiness…

They brought their pair for photo shoot… It’s it lovely??

On wedding day, their dolls were place on their bed. Han told me that the dolls had stolen their limelight. Instead of taking their picture; her friends, photographer, videographer, xiaodi, xiaomei, were taking pictures of their dolls!!!

Crochet Lesson @ SCGS

Last Tuesday, I was very honored to assist Betsy to teach crochet @ SCGS (Singapore Chinese Girl School). I put Joel at my MIL’s place for 4 hours. Thank God this little rascal behaved himself and my MIL said she let him sat on the high chair for more than an hour while she’s preparing dinner, which I was very surprise cos at home, he’ll wail if I let him sit too long. To him, sitting on high chair means, ‘mum, mum’  (eating) time…. =P

Back to SCGS crochet class…

I was quite excited when Betsy asked me to assist her.  The class was quite big, around 23 students. Before the lesson, Betsy gave some explanation. This is the first time, I saw Betsy taught. She is  good & her explanation was very clear! Good mean strict too. When she’s teaching, no one supposed to do anything but listened… Hehehehe…. Wah, like back to school….

The students were split into 3 groups. There’re 3 of us: Betsy, her mom and myself. Each of us took one group.

The students were asked to make this free-form crochet piece. At the end of the day, they were required to join all their workpiece together to make into a huge art piece…

 

During the lesson….

It was really a good experience for me…. Tiring but great satisfaction!

Conclusion: teaching crochet is never easy. For newbies, their problems always lie on the way they hold their workpiece and the way they control the stitch tension. However this group of girls is quite smart, and they can pick up very fast….

Knotty Tea Party - Handmade-A-Fair

Knotty Bicsie is turning 3 this month!! They are having an open house on 31st of Oct 2009 (Saturday). I'm honored to be invited by Betsy (the founder) to set up a stall on that day... ;) I'll be show-casing one pair of the wedding dolls & wedding corsages during the 4 hours session.

Seraphina Hand Carved Stamp

I've asked Magda from Craft Pudding to hand-carve Seraphina stamp for me few weeks back... :)

Note: Seraphina icon was created by my brother. Thanks Bro!

She did a good job and I'm loving it. Will be using it for all my handmade stuff as trademark....

I've bought the stamp ink from Daiso and stamped it on a piece of fabric... Very nice... :)

WooHoo!!! My little valentine dolls appeared on Yahoo!Singapore front page... I was so excited...

Last nite, I spotted my two little cuties on the page under this column Yahoo! Pulse, Love is in the Air by Suzz.com. Thank God I've captured the image before it was being replaced today.
